Purchasing Equipment
If you are looking to join Ship 1942, you will need basic equipment, such as a life vest and a Sea Scout manual.
The manual is one of the most important materials for a Sea Scout. It provides guidance on rank advancement, boat handling, near-shore navigation, nautical laws, and much more.
Another essential for any Sea Scout is a lifejacket, or Personal Floatation Device (PFD). Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved Type II and III PFDs are appropriate for youth to wear on our programs. While we do provide Type IIs, you might also wish to purchase your own Type III for comfort, reliability, and utility.
